In our journey to becoming an industry leader in sustainable aviation, we operate the UK’s first low/zero emissions flight school, using the Pipistrel Velis Electro. Our commitment to using this aircraft was recognised when we were awarded the UK’s first Electric Flight Scholarship in July 2024. So far, we have had 3 young pilots taking part in the scholarship and here is what one of these pilots had to say on their experience:
I’m humbled to announce that I am a recipient of the UK’s first electric flying scholarship. Electric differences training this week with the highly commendable Saxon Air Charter Ltd with a warm thanks to The Air League and Stelios Foundation; two flights in and incredibly grateful for this opportunity.
As our industry drives towards its Net Zero goals, it is a privilege to be at the forefront of this developing technology.
Electric flying requires new tools and an output conservational mindset; I cannot wait to share my experience with the wider aviation community and continue to promote net zero and sustainable education.
In 2024 we began our “Electriflying” experience days at Norwich Airport, combining a tour of our Hangar with an in-depth look into the Pipistrel Velis Electro with the final highlight being a leisure flight over Norfolk. Here is what one of our Electriflying experience day clients had to say:
For me it was very interesting to compare the Pipistrel with the other much older planes I had flown in before.
Electric vehicles and batteries are improving rapidly, and I am sure the Pipistrel is just a pioneer of what is to come. The flight was very enjoyable and the all-round vision very good.
The whole experience was first class and we all had a brilliant time. Everyone at Saxon Air were very friendly and welcoming.
