Saxon Air is celebrating the success of its latest Aviation Skills Bootcamp cohort, with learners reporting significant increases in confidence, aviation knowledge and workplace readiness following the 10-week programme.
Delivered in partnership with Klyne Training, the Skills Bootcamp was designed to give participants hands-on exposure to the aviation industry, helping bridge the gap between education and employment through practical learning, industry insight and direct engagement with aviation professionals.
The latest cohort feedback highlighted overwhelmingly positive results across every area of the programme, reinforcing the growing importance of employer-led skills development in the aviation sector.
Headline Results from the 2026 Cohort
Throughout the programme, learners took part in a wide range of practical and classroom-based activities, including flight simulator experiences, ground operations insight, first aid training, engineering activities, teamwork exercises and exposure to live aviation environments.
Participants repeatedly highlighted the value of hands-on learning, industry access and the supportive culture created throughout the bootcamp.
One learner shared:
“This 10-week programme has honestly developed me further than I thought possible. It has been so eye opening to experience a company with such great procedures, teamwork and organised structure. Saxon Air exceeded all expectations I had.”
Another participant said:
“The programme helped me develop both my understanding of the aviation industry and important skills such as teamwork, communication and professionalism.”
Learners also praised the instructors and delivery team, with participants describing the environment as supportive, engaging and motivating.
One of the most rewarding outcomes from the latest cohort was seeing learners gain the confidence and direction to pursue careers aligned with their individual passions and ambitions within the wider aviation and travel industry.
Throughout the 10-week programme, learners are encouraged to explore different areas of aviation, helping them identify potential career pathways and develop the confidence to take their next steps into employment.
One learner in particular joined the bootcamp with a strong interest in travel, tourism and customer service, alongside a passion for helping people and experiencing different cultures around the world. As the programme progressed, they developed a clearer understanding of the opportunities available within the sector and began actively applying for roles linked to their interests.
Towards the end of the bootcamp, the learner secured an interview with Jet2 for a position as a Holiday Representative. Following a successful interview process, they were offered the role and are now preparing to travel internationally, supporting holidaymakers and ensuring customers enjoy safe, enjoyable and seamless travel experiences abroad. This success story highlights how the Skills Bootcamp can help learners build confidence, discover career pathways and take meaningful first steps into the aviation. It also demonstrates the wider opportunities available through the programme beyond traditional aviation roles, showcasing the broad range of careers connected to the sector.
The Skills Bootcamp was designed not only to build technical understanding, but to improve social mobility and create more accessible entry points into aviation careers through practical exposure, mentorship and real-world workplace experiences.
By giving learners direct access to operational aviation environments, industry professionals and live business settings, the programme aims to help break down barriers often associated with the aviation sector and showcase the breadth of opportunities available beyond traditional career routes.
Alex Durand, CEO of Saxon Air, shares “The aviation industry needs more accessible pathways for people to gain real insight, practical experience and confidence within the sector. Programmes like this are incredibly important because they allow businesses to step up and actively support the next generation of talent.
“What has been particularly rewarding is seeing the personal development within the cohort – not just aviation knowledge, but confidence, communication skills and professionalism. The feedback has been exceptional, and we are proud to continue investing in opportunities that can genuinely change futures.”
The initiative also forms part of Saxon Air’s wider ambition to strengthen the regional skills pipeline across Norfolk and the East of England, helping connect businesses with future talent while encouraging greater industry engagement with younger generations.
Saxon Air believes programmes such as the Skills Bootcamp can play an important role in supporting long-term workforce sustainability across aviation, engineering, technology and adjacent industries, particularly within regional economies where employer involvement can have direct local impact.
The Skills Bootcamp forms part of Saxon Air’s wider INSPIRE outreach and education programme, which aims to create meaningful pathways into aviation and expose young people and career changers to opportunities across the sector.
Following the success of the latest cohort, Saxon Air is now exploring future bootcamp opportunities and additional industry-led training initiatives to continue building awareness and accessibility into aviation careers.
